Rileys review: cloth, cut and how it wears

Rileys · The Piques

Nov 2, 2026·

The Rileys is the kind of piece that disappears once you put it on, in the best sense. piqué, burgundy, nothing to adjust.

Fit

It sits at the natural waist and falls straight. No taper, no break at the ankle, which makes it easy to pair with almost any shoe.

Fabric

piqué was the right call here: matte surface, calm drape, and enough body that it does not cling after a few hours of wear.

How to wear it

Summer: linen shirt, loafers, no socks. Winter: merino rollneck, boots, heavy coat. The Rileys handles both.

Care

Store folded in a dry place. Hanging stretches the waistband over months, especially on piqué.

Worth knowing

Colours within the range are dyed to sit together, which makes combining two pieces from the same fabric straightforward.

The Rileys is not a statement piece. It is the short you reach for without thinking, which is usually the highest compliment.
